Cheerleading

HOT NEWS:

Cheerleading Tryouts Are NO Longer Required!

Listen up, Gang...We have a dilemma!

The objective of the Libertyville Boys Club (LBC) cheerleading program is to provide organized cheerleading programs for boys and girls in grades 7th and 8th in the Village of Libertyville and its surrounding communities. The program has always striven to teach the fundamentals and skills of cheerleading- and to develop teamwork, respect, and character in all participants in a safe and recreational atmosphere. No prior experience or prerequisites are necessary to join the program.

BUT...We have a problem, and YOU can help!

See, with the recent explosion in competitive Cheerleading teams and organizations, our World Class cheer program has been left a bit under-manned. With more and more girls (and boys ;-) choosing to join these competitive squads, our pool of cheer applicants has grown smaller and smaller every year.

Indeed, there was talk of doing AWAY with the program altogether this year...

And THAT would have been a tragedy.

See, the kids who play in the LBC LOVE their cheerleaders...It just wouldn't be the same without you!

Luckily for us, cooler heads prevailed- and we decided to do this instead. Until further notice, tryouts are suspended, and that means...

YOU make the squad!

That's right- if you and your parents are willing to take action, then we will too.
You're ON the Team!

But we can't do anything unless YOU and your folks take the next step...

So what do you say? We need your support here. Believe me, the players COUNT on you, and that's not the best part...

The BEST part is what YOU get out of the deal...

  • A chance to have a GREAT time with your pals...

  • You'll develop your Dance and Gymnastic skills...

  • You'll Pump Up your Self-confidence and Esteem...

  • You'll get a KILLER workout to keep you healthy and fit...

  • You'll gain the admiration of all for your willingness to give...

And a whole lot more!

Here's how it works:

The Cheer program is broken into squads that cheer for the Lightweight and Heavyweight traveling teams. The parents and the participants must be willing to travel to all communities as the schedule necessitates. The communities that participate in the Tri County Youth Football League other than Libertyville are: Antioch, Barrington, Cary Grove, Crystal Lake, Grayslake, Gurnee, Huntley, Lake in the Hills, Lake Zurich, Plainfield, Oak Park, St. Charles, and Wauconda.

Does that sound like a lot of traveling? Not really...

You want to see these killer football games anyways, don't you? Why not see them as a PARTICIPANT, and reap the rewards of being ON the team instead of just sitting on the bench!

The travel squads will be made up of participants in all eligible grades placed as appropriate with the exception of those that have graduated from eighth grade or those that have attained the age of fifteen prior to September 1 of the current year. The LBC reserves the right to disqualify an applicant from participation in the program.

Squads will practice twice each week on a rotating schedule. Tuesday-Thursday one week, Monday-Wednesday the next, from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. Games are played either on Saturday night or Sunday afternoon. Travel cheerleaders are expected to travel to all scheduled away games. Travel cheerleaders are also expected to continue to practice and cheer throughout the playoffs until the conclusion of the travel season.

The LBC will provide each cheerleader with a jacket, skirt, and vest that must be returned to the LBC at the end of the season. Participants will be required to provide the LBC with a uniform deposit in the form of a check that will held by the LBC until the uniform is returned at the end of the season at which time it will be returned to the participant. The LBC will also provide each travel cheerleader with a spankie, headband, and gloves that the cheerleader gets to keep at the end of the season!

So...What Do You Say?

Will you join us by investing a tiny amount of time and money to help us keep LBC Football the incredibly effective morale-monster it is?

We KNOW that YOU will get something great out of being an LBC Cheerleader, and so will WE...

We'll get to hang out with YOU!

Let's Get On The TEAM.

IMPORTANT DATES

The LBC will try to place participants on squads associated with teams on which a sibling plays; however, dependent upon the size of program enrollment, this may not be possible in all instances.

There will be a mandatory parents only meeting after the first day of practice on August 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the shelter by the Libertyville Little League concession stand shelter. Parents will be provided with an information packet that contains such things as a code of conduct, a schedule of games and practices, a squad roster, a cheer list, and other information pertinent to the travel cheer program.

Practices begin on Tuesday, August 12,13,14 beginning at 6:00 p.m. Cheerleaders should meet at the shelter by the Libertyville Little League concession stand no later than 5:45 p.m.

VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT

The success of the LBC cheerleading program is dependent upon volunteer service. Each participating family has an obligation to fulfill a volunteer commitment.

For each participant registered, one parent will be required to be a “Team Parent” for one or two weeks throughout the season. This involves supervising both practices and the game for your squad that week. During the week that you are team parent, your cheerleader will be the captain of the squad.

The cheer squads need volunteers to assist with uniforms, picture day, snacks, the post-season banquet, and other activities. If you are interested in volunteering to help with the travel squads, please contact the Director of Cheerleading at:

cheer@lbcfootball.org

GENERAL INFORMATION

Cheerleaders that miss one unexcused practice during the week will be ineligible to participate in the halftime performance for that week’s game. Be at practice on time and ready to cheer. Arrangements should be made to pick up cheerleaders promptly after practice. Dress appropriately for practices based upon weather conditions; however, always dress in clothing that makes it easy to move and bend. If there is thunder and lightning or heavy rain, assume that the practice is canceled. Go to the LBC web site for cancellation notices.

Cheerleaders are required to be at the field at least 30 minutes prior to game time. This time will be used to review the halftime performance as well as any new cheers taught during the week. The captain selects the cheers for the upcoming game.

REFUND POLICY

Refunds are considered on a case-by-case basis. To request a refund, please send an e-mail to refund@lbcfootball.org and someone will contact you shortly!
